Theremino Opto TRIAC (3 KW max)

This circuit is very similar to a power switch. Can turn on and off large loads, such as furnaces and boilers. And it also works well with inductive loads such as motors, Transformers and large electromagnets.

By means of a photo-coupler “Zero crossing”, the switching times are always at the precise moment of the passage of the zero. Then the commutations are clean, the electromagnetic interference are completely absent and do not develop dangerous extra voltage (spikes).

The best use is with Theremino System. The Theremino modular input/output.

Theremino system is running in native mode under Windows 10.

The OptoTriac can not be driven by the Theremino Master PWM (or FastPwm). The minimal PWM pulse repetition speed (250 Hz), is too high to drive a 50 Hz load. For slow responding devices, for example large ovens, it is possible to write software that generates a very slow PWM (repetition 1 second, 10 seconds, or more) and regulate the temperature with good precision. With 1 second repetition the precision will 1%, and with 10 seconds the precision will be 0.1%.

This Opto TRIAC can be easily used by the Arduino system without any modification.
